Class A CDL Preparatory
All-State Career School’s CDL preparatory driving training program in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania brings road-ready learners the tools and instructors they need to take the first step to begin a trucking career. DMV test preparation for a Class A commercial driver’s license is quickly and conveniently done at All-State Career School. The combination of classroom education, practice in an enclosed yard, and on-the-road training with seasoned instructors, gives our students a leading edge over graduates from other institutions that may not focus on all of these aspects of learning.
Step One: At All-State Career School, You Hit the Books First
Some people think driving a semi is the same as driving a large diesel truck. It is not. Before ever stepping foot in a rig, it is imperative to understand the day-to-day aspects that are involved in operating trailers that require a Class A commercial license. By beginning your education in a classroom environment and through reading and studying the materials provided, you will gain a thorough understanding of pre-trip and walk-around inspections, how to secure and lock kingpins, and how to secure various types of loads.
Step Two: Learning Basics Behind the Wheel
Once outside of the classroom, you will utilize our secure yard area to test your mettle as a first time truck driver. You will apply everything you learned in the classroom and obtain numerous practical skills during this phase of training, such as learning where blind spots are and operating gearbox mechanisms and learning how different they are from driving a standard/manual vehicle of a much smaller size.
Step Three: On the Road with Instructors
Once your instructor decides you are ready to drive outside the yard, you will be ready to hit the road for the first time! Your experienced teacher will be at your side during this exciting experience, ensuring you are all set to take and pass the Class A exam and driving test.
Step Four: Ready for Employment
With real-world experience behind your back, obtaining an entry-level job is the next step. All-State is committed to go above and beyond to help graduates obtain a job - and a great one at that! In addition to teaching you the skill set you need to succeed as a truck driver, we also teach you how to interview to land a job you can love. We help our graduates throughout all aspects of the job search process: how to correctly fill out applications online or off; imperative communication skills for interviewing; and how to choose the right opportunity among different types of driving positions that are available.
