DENTAL ASSISTING

All-State Career's Dental Assisting program provides you with hands-on strategies and techniques that will enable you to work directly with dentists.

Although state regulations vary, typical duties of dental assistants may include:

  • Preparing patients for treatments, exams, and teeth cleanings
  • Assisting dentist during examinations and procedures
  • Sterilizing, operating, and maintaining dental instruments & equipment
  • Administering periodontal dressings
  • Applying topical anesthetics and sealants
  • Taking tooth impressions
  • Scheduling patient appointments
  • Processing x-rays and doing lab tasks under the direction of a dentist
  • Keeping records of dental treatments
  • Working with patients on billing and payment

The Expanded Functions Dental Assistant program is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions working under the supervision of a dentist. The expanded functions dental assistant program prepares student to assist the dentist chairside, work in the operatory or treatment room with the dentist, prepare dental impressions and restorative materials, evacuate debris and extraneous materials from the oral cavity, and prepare the operatory for procedures including instrument tray and anesthesia set-ups as required by the dentist.
