Welders get to work with both their hands and their heads.  Welding encompasses study in electrical, metallurgy, chemistry, physics, design, and mechanical engineering. Welders may work on various structures; including but not limited to bridges, buildings, pressure vessels and heat exchangers. This would include welding items such as nuclear systems, boilers, storage vessels, transmission and transportation vehicles for water, land, air and space travel, and production and processing machines of all types. The All-State curriculum provides students with a foundation in welding techniques, skills, welding mathematics, and career development. The successful graduate is trained to enter the welding profession as an entry-level welder.

For those who have completed their welding technology program at All-State, the career opportunities are very attractive in the western Pennsylvania area and beyond.  The current natural gas industry boom related to the Marcellus shale formation has created tremendous opportunity for both welders and commercial truck drivers.  The Bureau of Labor Statistics recently published an article on the employment and wage trends in PA because of the Marcellus Shale gas boom.  This trend is expected to continue and many recent All-State grads from the Pittsburgh campus have been hired by employers to meet the demand for skilled welders and drivers.
